About Me

I am a 62 year old Convert to Islam having converted at the age of 48 as a single woman and an ex Belly Dancer and Taxi Driver with a Diploma in journalism. This will shock many. I have been vegetarian for 41 years. I have not eaten so much as a prawn in all this time. I do not wear leather. I cannot eat anything that has a heart fresh with life.  At the age of 48 it seemed that a door opened for me, taking me away from a world of jingly jangly baubles and a haze of chiffon and glitter, to a more modest way of life and a spiritual awakening. I believe Islam found me when my heart was open to receive it.

I am the daughter of a sadly deceased Fleet Air Arm War Veteran who spent much time in the Middle East which he loved -the people and the climate!

My 86 year old mother contributed to this country's war effort by working in the Portsmouth Dockyard in the Motor Transport Department.

I have always been passionate about the welfare of animals throughout my life, but converting to Islam has inspired me to further this passion for animals by forming I.H.S.A.N to promote the welfare of animals in the UK and beyond.

I am not the best Muslim and I am not the worst, but always striving to improve.

Horse Racing is on a par with bull fighting. What right do we have to subject animals to such cruelty purely for financial gain?
